Growing up with one of the greatest public hospital systems in the world can make you appreciate how lucky we really are. If you are seriously ill or have an accident and need to be treated in an Emergency Department, the chances are you will be, and quickly. That can be good news for someone your age, with more people aged from 15 to 24 ending up at hospital Emergency Departments than people around their parents’ age.  But it’s not just the Emergency Departments that treat young people. In 2014-15, people aged between 20 and 39 accounted for 1.77 million admissions to Australian hospitals. So, if you think that will never be you, you may be wrong.
